Your Instagram is not your home

instagram no es tu casa, tu propio web si

Your website is the one "home" that's truly yours.

There's something almost nobody tells you when you start building your brand on social media: everything you post, every follower you gain, every message you get, lives in a house that isn't yours. You need your own website — a creator's website.

Instagram, TikTok, whatever platform — they're rented, not owned. You can decorate the living room however you want, but the landlord can change the rules whenever they feel like it. One algorithm change, and suddenly nobody sees your posts. One account blocked by mistake, and you lose years of work in a second. It's not a rare scenario — it happens to people every week.

What happens when you hand your business over to an algorithm.

No one can take it away from you, no one decides who sees it but you, and it doesn't depend on any algorithm. That's where you keep what really matters: who you are, what you offer, and how to reach you — no middlemen involved.

This doesn't mean you have to quit social media — quite the opposite: it's a great shop window for people to discover you. But a shop window isn't a business. A business needs a solid foundation behind it, something that stays standing no matter what happens with the app of the moment.

If you don't have a space of your own yet, it's time to think about it. It doesn't have to be complicated or expensive — you just need to start.

Why owning your own website is vital for your creative business.

Having your own website also gives you total creative freedom. On social media you're limited by formats, time limits, and passing trends; in your own digital space, you decide how to tell your story — no rush, no preset molds. It's where you can show your work with the depth it deserves, explain your process, and connect from a place of authenticity, not engagement. Social media is the loudspeaker — your website is the full message.

And that message, at the end of the day, is what builds real trust and clients who stick around because they connect with you, not because an algorithm told them to.
